Here are a few things you can check your self before calling
for service.
Check the condition of your filters. A clogged filter is the #1 cause of poor cooling or heating. Remember, dirt is the worst enemy of your comfort system. Check your electrical breakers. They do trip occasionaly. Turn the tripped breaker all the way off, then reset to the on position. Make sure the t/stat is set for cooling or heat. You would be suprised how many service calls are run and the only problem is the t/stat was set incorrectly. If there is severe weather in your area, you would be wise to shut your comfort system down at the t/stat. Let the storm pass before you restart your system. The effects of power outages and lightning strikes are well known. If you lose power, turn off your t/stat. Wait for the power to be turned back on before you restart your system. This will assist the power company in reestablishing the circuits. Dont continualy raise and lower the t/stat. Let the unit stabilize the room temperature, then if you need to adjust it, only raise or lower 1 or 2 degrees at a time. If you have wide temperature swings it could be the result of an old mechanical t/stat. While these old timers are reliable they can be inconsistant. Call us and we can install a new digital t/stat which just may solve your comfort problems. Dont add bleach or clorox to your drain line. This could result in clorine contamination of your air handler, possible corrosion or breathing problems. Instead, use a shop vacc (wet and dry vacuum) to draw out the drain line from outside the home and remove the alge and sludge build up. This is our standard practice for drain line maintenance. Your best bet for maintaining your comfort is maintaining your comfort system. We have the answer for your system, our Comfort Club Planned Maintenance Program. Call us today with any questions you may have about this service.
